STORY OF A GUITAR
I went into a pawn
shop just to look around
I saw an old
six string guitar it had a Martin sound
I asked at the counter is this guitar for sale
If you
offer music to my ears, he said we’ll make a deal
Chorus
Well I like to boogie, like to boogie ‘round the clock
And rock it up country style, yeah playing country rock
Sometimes I play ‘til the moon above says hello to the sun
And good ol’ Martin music is for me number one
The dealer said this
old guitar has a story to be told
The one who brought it in here wasn’t really very old
He said it was his Papa’s and it makes him really sad
To pawn it for some money to buy a headstone for his Dad
And some years later
on I played in a little country town
And a young man who was all alone came in and sat down
He said there’s something I did once and wish I hadn’t done
Papa gave me his guitar, said take care of it Son
Chorus
Papa liked to boogie, liked to boogie ‘round the clock
And rock it up country style, yeah playing country rock
Sometimes he played ‘til the moon above said hello to the sun
And good ol’ Martin music was for him number one
We chatted some and
I found out a story we both knew
We didn’t know each other but I knew that it was true
I said the words you share with me tell a lot about your Dad
Take this guitar and play it like the one your Daddy had
He seemed at home
with that guitar and he was truly glad
As once again he played it and smiled about his Dad
Yes I know to give up what you love is very very tough
But the story of this guitar is music made from love
Chorus
And we like to boogie, like to boogie ‘round the clock
And rock it up country style, yeah playing country rock
Sometimes we play ‘til the moon above says hello to the sun
And good ol’ Martin music is for us still number one
And I hear he’s
playing music now
Like his Daddy used to do
